Joel C. Stopka
Managing Attorney
Joel currently specializes in immigration law, having previously worked at GCLC as a foreclosure attorney for six years. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in finance and received his JD from the UIC John Marshall Law School.
Proficient in Spanish, Joel has dedicated his life to serving the Chicago community and the world as a legal aid attorney, a member of the Associate Board of a local nonprofit organization, and a former Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras. He believes in working together to lift each other up and is inspired by GCLC’s dedication to aiding vulnerable legal populations in Chicago.
In his spare time, Joel likes to sail in the summer and snowboard in the winter.
