Name and position: Haley Day, undergraduate intern
How does your current internship align with your career interests?: My long-term goal is to become an attorney and advocate for underserved families and individuals. My current internship 100% aligns with these goals. Every day I am surrounded by like-minded individuals who are currently living out my goals and values. My experience and interactions with my coworkers thus far have been extremely encouraging, motivating, and has made me all the more eager to pursuit my JD.
What drew you to GCLC in particular?: The attorneys that work for GCLC are passionate advocates who are fighting for a fair and equal justice system. The mission was the first thing that drew me to GCLC. I was also drawn to the organizational culture and it was evident that the Clinic has a work environment that I would do well in and enjoy. In addition, GCLC provides a wide variety of programs and services. As a student, I felt that being exposed to a number of different cases would be beneficial as I navigate and decide which field to focus on myself.
What have you learned or gained since beginning your internship at GCLC?: Since being at GCLC I have gained valuable knowledge in the legal field. I am so fortunate to be working under attorneys that have taken their time to teach me and allow me to be involved in their Criminal Records Program. Because of their time and patience, I have been given so many opportunities that have been advantageous as I navigate my role as a young professional.
