A Justice Social 2023

Celebrating Community Justice Advocates across Greater Chicagoland.

GCLC’s annual fundraising and recognition event, A Justice Social 2023, provides us with the opportunity to honor champions for equal access to justice in Greater Chicago.

This year, the event will be held the evening of Thursday, September 14, at Greenhouse Loft, located at 2545 West Diversey Avenue. Seating will not be limited to assigned tables—guests will mingle, socialize, and enjoy food and beverages from Café Ba-Ba-Reeba at their leisure throughout the evening. Greenhouse Loft features a lovely outdoor garden space, allowing guests to join the festivities inside or outside.

Join us for a fun evening with friends and help raise funds that will support and build capacity for all GCLC programs and practices.

Tickets will be available for purchase at support.gclclaw.org/ajs23 . To inquire about purchasing a group of tickets or sponsoring the event, please contact Katie Jackson at kjackson@gclclaw.org or 312-726-2938 ext. 108.

Meet Our 2023 Award Winners

Ambassador for Justice Award

Honoring a GCLC staff member who has shown extraordinary achievement in the area of community outreach.

Barry C. Boykin, Senior Staff Attorney

A lifelong resident of Chicago, Barry has devoted his entire career to public service. He joined the Clinic in 1996 and has represented people on matters ranging from family law and domestic violence to litigating on behalf of those facing eviction and consumer debt issues. His practice is best described by his clients, who time and again share stories of his kindness, consideration, and thoughtfulness. In the words of one client: "He never gave up on me."

Pro Bono Service Award

Honoring a longstanding pro bono partner of the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic.

Carrie K. Huff, GCLC Board Member

Through nearly 30 years of service on GCLC's Board of Directors, including four terms as President, Carrie has provided essential strategic guidance, helping the Clinic grow from a small storefront office on the South Side into a regional provider of legal aid services across Chicagoland. In her legal practice, she advises and represents religious organizations with their public ministries. Her contributions to the Clinic and the legal profession have expanded access to justice for tens of thousands.

A Justice Social supports Greater Chicago Legal Clinic’s vision: to build a society where there are no service gaps in the justice system, so that all Chicago-area communities have equal access to quality legal representation—regardless of income or background.
